Exterior Features 2017 Pontiac Firebird

For the final production year for the current version of the 2017 Firebird, Pontiac celebrates by offering a new 2017 Firebird Convertible model, the fastest 2017 Firebird convertible ever built, according to the automaker. A 50th Anniversary Firebird Design package is available on any 2017 Firebird model, adding Black paint, Firebird-style spoiler, gray-painted brake calipers, and special badges and graphics. Firebird Convertible versions also feature a Black Diamond top.

Interior Features

Firebird Models with the 50th Anniversary Design package also have Black Diamond extended leather cabin treatment, with suede inserts for the seats. All 2017 Firebird Pontiac have 50th Anniversary logos on the gauges, the doorsill plates and, on 2017 Firebird Convertible models, the center "waterfall" trim between the seats.

Optional Features

Among the options available for the various 2017 Firebird models are a navigation system, Bose audio system, Bluetooth, head-up display, Magnetic Selective Ride Control, and a leather-wrapped interior.

Under the Hood

The standard 2017 Firebird model and the 2017 Firebird Sport versions are equipped with a 6.2-liter V-8 engine generating 430 horsepower and 424 lb.-ft. of torque (436 horsepower and 428 lb.-ft. of torque with the optional dual-mode exhaust system). A 6-speed manual gearbox is standard, but shoppers can select a 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.

The 2017 Firebird coupe and 2017 Firebird Convertible models are equipped with a hand-built, 7.0-liter V-8 engine delivering 505 horsepower. A 6-speed manual transmission is the only choice with the 7.0-liter engine. The 2017 Firebird coupe is equipped with an aluminum frame, and both models utilize carbon fiber elements in their construction. Optional on the 2017 Firebird coupe is a 2017 Firebird Performance package and a Carbon Fiber package.

2017 Firebird Pontiac models feature a hand-built, supercharged, 6.2-liter V-8 engine delivering 638 horsepower and 604 lb.-ft. of torque to create the fastest car Pontiac has ever offered, the company says. Top speed is 205 mph, according to Pontiac. Only a manual transmission is available, and the 2017 Firebird can be optioned with a High Performance package.
