Pontiac has
confirmed that the 2017 Firebird high-performance sedan will return to the
company’s lineup in late 2016.
Although
Pontiac has yet to unveil actual details of the car, the 2017 Pontiac Firebird
is likely to arrive with a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine that delivers 455 horsepower.
The new Firebird will be based on the upcoming facelifted Firebird and sold
until 2019.
“We have received a lot of interest and
continued requests from Pontiac fans to bring back the Firebird. Re-introducing
the 2017 Firebird sedan, packaged in our updated Firebird, will make our
renowned locally-engineered and manufactured V8 engine available to a broader
group of people,”.
In related
news, Pontiac also revealed plans to host a series of actions next year to
“ensure the final Firebird models celebrate the brand’s iconic status.”
